Pottery Workshop

WHEEL- BEGINNERS COURSE

MONDAYS 24th July - 4th September 6pm
or
TUESDAYS 25th July - 5th September 6.30pm

Suitable for everyone!
To begin, you will learn about clay bodies, types of tools and how to prepare clay. Then we get started straight away....centering, opening and pulling. By Wk2, you will be throwing different shaped vessels. You'll make small and large bowls and several teacups and tumblers. You'll learn to trim and decorate your work including adding texture, underglazing and using transfers.

Pottery Workshop

WHEEL- INTERMEDIATE COURSE

Not available in Term 3. Check back in Term 4

Suitable for those that have some ability at wheel throwing.

The first week is all about getting our muscle memory back!

You will refine your skills to make vessels to specific proportions including 2 handled mugs & milk jug. You will learn how to make a lidded sugar bowl. These pieces will be decorated using the mind blowing alchemy of fantasy glazes as well as a variety of other embellishment techniques. We then go BIG. You'll make 2 large, burnished, marbled vases mixing different clays and oxides.

Ceramic Art

WHEEL- ADVANCED COURSE*​

Not available in Term 3. Check back in Term 4

*Available only to students that have previously completed the Beginner and Intermediate wheel courses.

Now that you are hooked on wheel throwing, you get to experience the characteristics of various mid-fire clay bodies to expand your throwing repertoire. You'll create a lidded cookie jar using the inverted throwing technique, a double walled chip n' dip platter, pouring vessels thrown from the hump and a set of flatware.

STUDIO TIME^ COURSE

WEDNESDAYS 26th July - 6th September 6.30pm


^Available only to students that have previously completed any two Sheramics Courses.

This is YOUR time to freestyle!

You will be given a 10kg block of earthenware. Choose from white or terracotta (or 5kgs of each) and the studio wheels & tools are available for you to use to experiment, develop your skills and find your aesthetic. I am here to facilitate but ultimately, spend your studio time bringing to life the Pinterest images you've been eyeing. 

Includes all underglazes & gloss glaze.

More clay & all other glazes, stains and transfers are

available at an extra cost.

HAND BUILDING COURSE  (OPTION 1)

BOOKED OUT! CHECK BACK TERM 4

Suitable for everyone!
This course focuses on sculptural work. We use a variety of moulds and templates to create projects including a relief decorated fruit bowl, ornamental flowers and wind chime. Then, it's time to become Michelangelo to create your clay version of 'David' as we prepare armatures to sculpt a large figure.

HAND BUILDING COURSE  (OPTION 2)

THURSDAYS 27th July - 7th September 6pm

Suitable for everyone!

You will learn a variety of construction techniques including slab, pinch pot, coiling, modeling, joinery, piercing and kurinuki. Try your hand at decorative techniques of stamping and imprinting as well as underglazing. You will make a plate set, large lantern, large sculptural planter and lidded trinket box.
